April 9th, 2015, Folio Books in Noe Valley, San Fran, CA: This bookstore has it all: A friendly staff, a wide collection of books for all ages, and ME! Queer, little/giant me!! Yay! I will be returning to Folio Books on April 9th at 7pm to share some writing stories, read from my latest book, Driving Lessons, and to hopefully show off some fancy-ass high heels. Driving Lessons coverFebruary 24th, 2015, LGBTQ Youth Space, San Jose, CA: Hey you awesome queer kids of Santa Clara County! I’m coming to visit your youth center on February 24th at 6pm to talk about my experiences as an out lesbian teacher and writer and then we’ll do a little writing together! Come on by. Sunday, June 22nd, 2014, 3:00-4:00: Aw yeah, Noe Valley! We’re here, we write lesbian fiction, and we are heading for Folio Bookstore in the heart of Noe Valley in San Francisco, CA. A few other Bold Strokes Book gals and I will be reading from our latest works (I’m for sure going to read from the sequel- Driving Lessons!) and share our journeys from idea to publication. May 13th, 2014, 6:00-8:00PM: Nothing is more fun that talking to a group of Children’s Literature enthusiasts! That’s why I’m so stoked to go visit the UCSC Children’s Literature Class for the 3rd year in a row. I’ll be discussing my writing process, my reasons behind writing YA Lit, and share some embarrassing stories from my high school years (my fav activity!).

February 27th, 2014, 6:00PM-8:00PM: Holy Lesbian Writers, Batman!! Yep, there will be a gaggle of us reading at the San Francisco Main Library, 100 Larkin Street, SF, CA, on February 27th! Come on by to hear from some of the Bay Area’s hottest lezzie writers of lezzie fiction. Along with reading from our latest works, we’ll talk about our journeys from ideas to published book and then we will take a little field trip to Soluna Cafe on McAllister to eat, drink, and be merry. MAY 1st, 2013, 3:30PM: Annameekee makes a visit to the University of California, Santa Cruz Cantu LGBTQ Resource Center to chat with the UCSC Queer Book Club! APRIL 27th, 2013, 6PM: “Writing for LGBT Youth” Discussion and Reading at Laurel Bookstore in Oakland, CA. Annameekee Hesik and Karin Kallmaker will discuss their work and their adventures in writing for the most awesome group of reader around: LGBT Youth! FEBRUARY 21st, 2013: Guest Speaker at the University of California, Santa Cruz in Professor Scott’s Multicultural Children’s Literature course. I look forward to sharing my journey as a writer with these future educators. Bonus: I get to go to one of the most peaceful campuses on the planet. I hope to see some baby deer!!

FEBRUARY 14th, 2013: Guest Speaker at the Cypress Charter High School GSA! I can’t wait to meet the students at Cypress and share my coming out story, my journey writing The You Know Who Girls, and to share ideas about how to have a kick butt GSA! See you soon, Cypress!
