Abbey’s Playlist

Ever wonder what a you-know-who-girl like Abbey Brooks might be listening to?  Wonder no more!  Here’s her playlist! Which songs would you add? (Comment below!)

  1. “Gravel” by Ani Difranco: This was on the first Ani CD Mia gave Abbey and now she’s hooked. This one reminds Abbey all about a messed up ex who Abbey should, but can’t, get over. Hmm…I wonder who that might be.
  2. “Bloodletting” by Concrete Blonde: Not her usual genre of music, but it has screaming in it and sometimes a girl needs to scream her head off to music to help bring clarity to the world.
  3. “Octopus’s Garden” by the Beatles: This song is total nonsense, but it makes her think of her dad because they’d sing it on long hikes.
  4. “The Con” by Tegan and Sara: A great track for Abbey when she’s feeling like she wants to be wanted, but doesn’t necessarily want to give anything in return because being a flirt can be really fun.
  5. “Closer to Fine” by The Indigo Girls: When Abbey first came out, Garrett said memorizing this song was a prerequisite to being a you-know-who girl. Abbey obeyed and now sings it loud and proud…when no one else is around.
  6. “Something” by the Beatles: One of Abbey’s absolute favorite Beatles songs and it has nothing to do with the fact that Keeta played it for her on her fifteenth birthday…nothing at all.
  7. “I Kissed a Girl” by Katie Perry: I mean, come on.
  8. “Love Song” by Sara Bareilles: A catchy tune about love and songs and stuff with a good beat that helps Abbey do her math homework faster.
  9. “Shake It Out” Florence and the Machines: Abbey doesn’t know or understand all the lyrics, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that it’s got an awesome chorus that is best heard very loudly.
  10. “Heal Over” by KT Tunstall: When Abbey’s feeling a little low, she plays this to reassure herself that she, too, will “heal over” someday soon.
  11.  “Blow Me (One Last Kiss) by Pink: A perfect break up song, even if Abbey isn’t the one who does the breaking up these days.  At least she has the perfect song for when she becomes the heart breaker.
